Celebrate the opening of Seen and Heard: An Active Commemoration of Women’s Suffrage, meet the artists, enjoy dance performances by the West Genesee High School Dance Program, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the passage of women’s suffrage in New York State, Seen and Heard explores the state’s history of activism and use of the arts as a catalyst for social change. Inspired by Barbara Kruger’s Who Speaks, Who is Silent?, a monumental work in the Everson’s collection that addresses the implication of silence and representation for women, this exhibition features newly commissioned work from nine contemporary artists, as well as several works from the Museum’s collection.
