Concert: Brian Israel Tribute

The Society for New Music presents the first Brian Israel Tribute, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Brian’s death. The performance at the Everson Museum of Art features music by Brian Israel and former Israel prize winners, Derek Bermel and Rob Paterson, plus the most recent 2011 winners Brett Bohman and Thomas Healy. On the program, in addition to Israel’s Barcarolles, are Bermel’s Funk Studies and SchiZm, Paterson’s Sunset, and Healy andBohman’s 1st String Quartets. Highlights include the newly opened Art of the Americas Wing at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, tour of historic Trinity Church and a walking tour of Boston’s Back Bay. An added attraction will be a visit to the Sackler Museum to see excerpts from the Fogg collection while it is under renovation and the Worcester Art Museum. We will enjoy accommodations at the Boston Marriot Copley Place, located near restaurants, shopping and other attractions.
