Festival of Trees

The 29th Annual Festival of Trees will turn the Everson into a magical wonderland, with artfully decorated trees, wreaths and special exhibits on view throughout the galleries and gathering spaces of the Museum. Each donated item will be sold to raise funds to support the Everson’s programs and exhibitions. Visitors to the Festival will have the chance to gathering decorating ideas and inspiration, purchase displays, peruse the wonderful selection in the Museum Gift Shop, enjoy live musical entertainment and refreshments at the Holiday Cafe.

The Everson Museum of Art Members’ Council is hosting the  Preview Gala, a fun, upscale cocktail party to kick-off the holiday season and preview the 29th annual Festival of Trees. This event gives guests the first look at the Festival of Trees and the chance to purchase over 100 decorated trees, wreaths and unique displays. All profits from the Festival will benefit the Everson Museum of Art. The Preview Gala includes complimentary wine, and elegant hors d’oeuvres catered by, as well as a cash bar.

Be a part of the 2014 Festival of Trees

Each year, local businesses, school groups, clubs and individuals create wonderful decorated trees, wreathes and special displays that make the Festival possible. If you would like to create an item for the festival, please download the form, and return it to the Museum. Items in any theme, and representing any culture, holiday or faith are encouraged and welcomed.

Design Matters: A Conversation with Mayors

The Mayor's Institute on City Design (MICD) is a National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) leadership initiative designed to foster an understanding of and appreciation for the role of design in creating vibrant, livable cities, and the importance of mayors as advocates for good design. This thoughtful and lively discussion between eight regional mayors and eight design experts - hosted by the Syracuse University School of Architecture - will foreground design's relationship to both the pressing issues and unique opportunities faced by mid-size American cities today.  

Participants are Mayor Richard C. David, Binghamton, NY; Mayor Scott Eisenhauer, Danville, IL; Mayor Roy D. Buol, Dubuque, IA; Mayor Lester E. Taylor III of East Orange, NJ; Mayor Holly Brinda, Elyria, OH; Mayor Toni Harp, New Haven, CT; Mayor Dave Kleis of St. Cloud, MN.  

Resource Team panelists include Ken Bernstein, Manager, Office of Historic Resources, City of Los Angeles; Felipe Correa, Associate Professor of Urban Design, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Cambridge; Abby Hamlin, CEO, Hamlin Ventures, NYC; Faith Rose, NYC Department of Design & Construction; Brent Ryan, Associate Professor, MIT, Urban Design & Public Policy; Hilary Sample, Principal, MOS Architects, NYC; Shin]pei Tsay, Director of Research and Development, Transit Center, NYC; Gena Wirth, Principal, SCAPE / Landscape Architecture, NY.
