Global Day of Clay
Join us at the Everson to celebrate Global Day of Clay on October 10, 2018. In addition to viewing our new exhibition The Very Mirror of Life, Ceramics at the Everson 1968-2010, we will be presenting a special film screening in conjunction with Syracuse University. At 5:00pm, we will screen our new high definition transfer of the documentary A Century of Ceramics in the United States 1878-1978, which was originally produced to accompany the Everson’s traveling exhibition of the same name. The film is narrated by Citizen Kane director Orson Welles, and features commentary from ceramic historian Garth Clark, as well as studio visits with Peter Voulkos, Victor Schreckengost, and Syracuse University’s own Margie Hughto, who served as co-curator of the original exhibition.
The screening will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with Margie Hughto and Garth Johnson, the Everson’s Paul Phillips and Sharon Sullivan Curator of Ceramics.
