Stratford and Niagara-on-the-Lake: Theatre Trip

June 24 - 26, 2015

The Everson Trip Committee’s 2015 theatre trip will be June 24 to June 26 and offers a variety of plays and musicals certain to delight theatre-goers. Besides a visit to 2 charming communities, the trip offers 6 meals, including lunch at Queenston Heights, the Revival Restaurants, and The Prince of Wales, travel by Quality Coach, and lodging at the centrally located Queen’s Inn. A current passport or enhanced drivers license is required for travel to Canada. We will check that all travelers have one of these documents with them before departure. Chautauqua Institute

July 26 - 30, 2015

The Everson Trip Committee is planning a trip to the Chautauqua Institute in 2015. The topic for the week is "Art and Politics."  Lecturers will demonstrate how art is used in politics and to influence political processes using examples from music, fine art, photography, the digital world, comedy, satire and language. Vintage Pop-Up

Time: 6.00pm to 8.00pm

Enjoy a unique evening of art and shopping at the Everson Museum! Pair paintings from the first half of the 20th century with fashions of the time, or find inspiration for your spring palette in the works of influential American artists. Local vintage vendors Maeflower Vintage, Modern Pop Culture, and Thriftwares, will “pop-up” in the Rosamond Gifford Sculpture Court and demonstrate how artworks like those seen in Prendergast to Pollock can influence fashion trends. The pop-up event is included in your admission for Prendergast to Pollock. A portion of your purchases benefit the Everson Museum!

American Legends Concert

Time: 2.00pm to 5.00pm

The Everson Museum of Art and Syracuse Sounds of Music Association, Inc. will present a collaborative event called "American Legends." This event is held in conjunction with the current exhibition Prendergast to Pollock and includes a live concert as well as a reception afterwards.

The performers at the concert are headlined by Ronnie Leigh, a legend in Syracuse for his jazz and pop vocalizations, as well as the Syracuse Pops Chorus led by Lou Lemos, and a woodwind quintet from Symphoria. The concert will be held in the intimate Hosmer Auditorium and is limited to 300 ticketholders. Following the concert, a group of musicians from Henninger High School will provide background music in the Sculpture Court where refreshments will be served. Guests may tour the exhibition at that time or come early to view it before the concert.

A Patron's Reception will be held following the concert to meet and chat with Ronnie Leigh and the other musicians. Champagne and strawberries will be served.

Everson Beer Garden

Celebrate the closing of our exciting exhibition Prendergast to Pollock at the Everson Beer Garden!

Sample fine craft beers from Empire Brewing Company, Middle Ages Brewing Company, and other local breweries, as well as hard and soft ciders from 1911 Spirits. Beverages may be purchased to benefit the museum and enjoyed in the Rosamond Gifford Sculpture Court. Food will be available for sale from Recess Coffee. Throughout the night, guests can enjoy live music by Oswego’s top singer/songwriter John McConnell, view the exhibitions, and peruse the wares of local artists. Weather permitting, beverages can also be enjoyed outside on the Everson podium.

$15 cover charge, includes exhibition admission. Cash bar.

2015 LEGO Design Challenge Entry Deadline

The 2015 LEGO Design Challenge is a design competition that promotes the creative and original use of LEGO Bricks. All design entries must respond to the following challenge:

Let’s reimagine Syracuse! This is your city, help us rebuild it. Think about the buildings, structures, and modes of transportation that exist in Syracuse. What does Syracuse need? What can be improved and how? What’s missing? Think big and be imaginative, the sky is the limit.

Your design must be on a LEGO baseplate. Design must not exceed 20"W x 20"L x 24"H.

Design finalists will be exhibited at the Everson Museum of Art June 5 - August 9, 2015.

Deadline for submissions: May 1, 2015

Entry Fee (per individual or group): Members $10, Non-Members $15

How to submit a design: Complete the 2015 LEGO DESIGN CHALLENGE Application (form at right). Submit the application along with one photograph of the design. Photo should not exceed 2MB and send to the following email address along with payment information.

Who can compete? Anyone is eligible to participate in the 2015 LEGO DESIGN CHALLENGE, but all finalists must be able to transport their designs to and from the Everson Museum on designated dates.

Judging will be based on the following categories:

·         Children (12 and under)

·         Teens (ages 13-17)

·         Adults (ages 18 and older)

·         Group and families (multiple people working on one design such as co-workers, a classroom or a family)

Final designs and grand prize winners will be chosen by a panel of professionals using the following criteria:

·         Creative application of LEGO bricks

·         Imaginative design and concept

·         Difficulty of execution

·         Quality of display

·         Vision


·         All entries must be original designs

·         One submission per individual or group

·         Designs may not exceed 20”W x 20”L x 24”H

·         All entries must include a complete application, entry fee and photograph of the design


Several finalists from each age category will be selected for the Museum exhibition. Grand Prize Winners will receive special prizes. 

Members' Council Book Fair

May 2, 2015 -

Time: 10.00am to 4.00pm

Join us at Barnes & Noble in Dewitt to kick-off the Everson Members' Council Book Fair to benefit the Everson Museum of Art. The event includes a craft project and story time for children from 10.30am to noon. From 3.00 to 4.00 pm, there will be an artist drawing demonstration and lesson for teens and adults.

A portion of all Barnes & Noble purchases will be donated to the Everson when participants give Book ID number 11565900 at the register.

Those who are unable to attend the event can still support the Museum by purchasing in store from May 2 - 8, or online at from May 2 - 7, and indicating the Book Fair ID number 11565900 at checkout.

Continuum Launch Party

Time: 6.30pm to 8.00pm

The Everson Continuum is hosting its first event! The event will feature a chocolate sculpting demonstration and tasting by Lune Chocolat and liqueur pairing by Vinomania. There is no charge for Continuum members to attend, but space is limited. Please reserve your space by emailing or calling (315) 474-6064. 

What is Continuum? A social group created by and for energetic adults under 50 (in age or spirit) who want to connect with the art scene, network, and enjoy exciting social experiences outside of their professional, family, and everyday commitments. 

Not yet a Continuum member? The group is seeking new members to join its ranks! Non-members may join the Everson Museum and Continuum to make their reservation. Annual Continuum membership is $15 per person. Continuum events are open to members only, and Everson Museum membership is a requirement of Continuum membership. Sixty Artists in Sixty Minutes

June 19, 2015 -

Time: 5.30pm to 7.00pm

The Everson Members' Council presents 60/60 under the tents on the Everson Community Plaza on June 19. Art lovers stroll about chatting with the 60 artists as they work and purchase raffle tickets which they place in pails by the artists whose pieces they would like to win. At the end of the hour, winning raffle tickets are drawn for each of the sixty works of art.

New this year will be Afterglow, an event in which guests can mingle with the artists after the drawing has concluded, and enjoy sparkling wine and dessert. Tickets for Afterglow are $120 per person, and include admission to 60/60. Afterglow tickets may be purchased at, advance tickets required. 

LEGO Happy Hour Workshop

Time: 6.00pm to 8.00pm

Participants will create a mini stop-motion animation short film. The event includes instruction by Syracuse University Professor Gail Hoffman, all materials, light refreshments and a cash bar. Open to adults ages 21 and older.
